New Farm & Community Market

New for Fall: Farm & Community Market, Opening August 25 at Hepler’s Hardware

New Stanton, PA — A new farm and community market will open to the public on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Hepler’s Hardware. The “Garden Center Market” will be hosted second and fourth Saturdays from August 25 through November 10 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., or until vendors sell out of goods. This open-air market will be held rain or shine in the lumber shed adjacent to Hepler’s Hardware at 818 U.S. Route 119N, New Stanton, PA 15672. Located just east of the interchange of I-76 and I-66 at the edge of Youngwood, visitors can access the farm market directly from the northbound lane of Route 119, or southbound by the traffic light at Burton Avenue, then Stone Church Road.

The vision for the new Garden Center Market is a community marketplace that promotes the goods and services of local farmers, artisans, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. As summer fairs and festivals wind down, each week the vendors may change and a different nonprofit may be featured.

The first week will feature the fresh produce of the Milowicki farm, a 50+ year-old, family-owned farm in Hunker. This third-generation business is proud to sell an extensive variety of fruits and vegetables that you can find all across Pennsylvania. Among their signature produce are watermelon, cantaloupe, and green beans. They also have fresh tomatoes! Joel Milowicki, who loves farming, will be onsite to sell his family’s produce.

Other produce vendors and food products include Greenawalt Farm sweet corn, Oak Lodge maple syrup, Goodman Farm sweet and hot peppers, Slope Hill Honey, and Stanton Milling buckwheat products.

Among participating artisans this first week are On the Road Again Adventure Jewelry by Danielle Keys, B&W Primitive wood crafts by Wes and Beth Lear, and decorative wine glass bottles by Michelle Jenkins.

This week’s nonprofit spotlight is Maple Knob Farms, a newly established farm and campground with a mission to provide those with disabilities a place to come and enjoy a camping experience without limitations.

For this first market season, participation in fall 2018 is FREE for vendors, with a small application fee. Vendors are being accepted in the following categories: Art & Handmade crafts, Antiques & collectibles, Baked goods, Farm produce (vegetable, honey, meat, dairy, etc.), Food trucks, Fresh-cut flowers, Plant and flower vendors, Nonprofit organizations, Other commercial vendors (as space is available).
